
The shift in the room.
I always thought Dad was like a machine that just ran perfectly. Seeing him sit at the kitchen table looking tired makes the world feel bigger, and a little more dangerous. But it also makes me feel closer to him.
He isn't giving me a lecture from the top of the mountain anymore. He's just down here in the woods with me, trying to find the path.
I guess if he can admit he's still figuring it out, maybe it's okay that I don't have everything sorted out either.
